We are a very busy troop with great Scouts and leaders who have over 100 years of experience between them. We are located in western Greensboro, North Carolina, but we have Scouts from several areas of the city. Troop 104 is small enough that Scouts get the individual attention that they should and we promote the leadership of the troop by Scouts themselves, as it should be. There have been many many Eagle Scouts in Troop 104 over the years and our Eagles help younger Scouts in the troop so that they may achieve the same if they would like to. The troop camps, hikes, bikes and does many other activities locally, in other parts of the country, in Canada and we have gone to Europe three times in the past 15 years. Troop 104 is the second-oldest Boy Scout troop in continuous operation in Greensboro, having been chartered at Gillespe School in 1929, then moving to Asheboro Street Baptist Church in 1931. When the church moved to its present location at the corner of Westridge Road and West Friendly Avenue in 1962 and was renamed Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, our troop moved with it and still remains with this very supportive sponsor today. We maintain strong links with the Cub Scout pack at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, Pack 106, but accept Cubs from any pack and have Scouts who belong to a number of other religious groups in our troop. Our principal fundraising activity is a two-to-three week Christmas tree sale, which we have held for over 30 years. Everyone has a great time with this and it helps fund trips and summer camp for Scouts. If you'd like more information or would like to attend a meeting, please send us an email (see "contact us" in the left-hand column).
